Annual Leave in the Northern Territory – What You Need to Know
Under the National Employment Standards (NES), Northern Territory employees are entitled to:
- Full-time workers: 4 weeks (152 hours) of paid annual leave each year.
- Part-time workers: Pro-rata accrual based on weekly hours worked.
- Casual workers: No annual leave, but typically earn a 25% loading on their hourly rate.
Leave begins accruing from your first day and accumulates with every pay cycle. It can usually be taken at any time as agreed between you and your employer.

- Part-time (25 hrs/week): ~1.92 hrs/week
Leave Loading in the NT
If you're employed under certain awards or enterprise agreements (such as NTPS or hospitality awards), you're likely entitled to 17.5% leave loading.

- Leave loading: $210
- Total leave pay: $1,410 for the week
